CTT together with CASiD at the 2nd Edu Offshore Wind 2024 Education Career Fair with innovative applications prepared by psychologists, UG developers and a diverse exhibition showcasing UG’s educational potential in the offshore and green technology industry.
The Edu Offshore Wind fair is the largest event related to human resources education in the growing offshore wind industry in Poland. The event was attended by more than 7,000 young people. It was with them that representatives of UG units and faculties, as well as students representing 12 UG scientific circles, discussed the offer of our university.
As part of our exhibition, participants in Edu Offshore Wind could, among other things, travel to the research vessel r/v Oceanograf using VR goggles, learn how energy is generated from wind, see what lives in the waters of the Baltic Sea, test their knowledge of sustainable development goals, solve quizzes on general knowledge and familiarity with the UG
Two applications were prepared especially for the fair – testing aptitude in finding the right course of study for oneself and self-assessment.
- team of the Academic Psychological Support Centre, led by Dr Agata Rudnik,
- a group of WMFiI students under the supervision of dr Jakub Neumann, prof. UG, and the
- UG Computer Centre. The first questionnaire tested a person’s predisposition to study particular UG courses related to the offshore industry, while the second was used to examine self-assessment. After completing the questionnaire, the application presented various ways to work on increasing self-confidence.
A quiz on general knowledge and about UG was available at the stand. Fair participants answered questions in groups to win prizes. Gifts related to the Hel Sealarium, funded by the UG Development Foundation, were particularly fun. The tests were very popular.
University-wide cooperation
The organisation and planning of the entire fair space dedicated to the University of Gdańsk was handled by the Technology Transfer Centre and the UG Student and Doctoral Activity Centre.
Twelve UG scientific circles prepared their presentations at the fair: Students‘ Scientific Circle Explantatus, Students’ Scientific Circle of Oceanographers, Scientific Circle of Chemists, Scientific Circle of Chemical Business, Scientific Circle of Spatial Management, Scientific Circle of Physicists, Scientific Circle of Logistics, Scientific Circle Deep Dive, Scientific Circle of Organisation and Management Psychology BREVI MNANU, All-University Scientific Circle of Digital and Analogue Games ‘UGranie’, TV Neptune and Radio Mors.
