The invention relates to a novel strontium salt of nimesulide in the form of stable crystals obtained via the reaction of nimesulide with strontium hydroxide and controlled crystallization from an ethanol–water mixture. In this structure, nimesulide is present as an anion coordinated with a strontium cation and three water molecules.
The new crystalline form exhibits modified physicochemical properties, including altered solubility, stability and melting behavior, potentially affecting the compound’s bioavailability and therapeutic performance. The presence of strontium ions provides additional potential for applications in bone-related therapies.
The invention includes both the compound and its synthesis method, allowing reproducible production of high-purity crystals with consistent morphology and defined crystal structure.
Application:
- Development of new forms of anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs,
- Design of formulations with improved bioavailability and stability,
- Potential use in products related to bone metabolism.
