CuGaS2@NH2-MIL-125(Ti) nanocomposites, their synthesis method and application as photocatalytic materials

The invention concerns CuGaS2@NH2-MIL-125(Ti) nanocomposites in which CuGaS2 semiconductor nanoplates are deposited on a porous NH2-MIL-125(Ti) metal-organic framework. The combination of both materials results in a stable heterojunction with enhanced charge separation and extended UV Vis light absorption.

The nanocomposite features a narrow band gap, high surface area and increased resistance to photocorrosion, enabling high efficiency in photocatalytic hydrogen generation and CO2 photoconversion to formic acid. Its activity significantly surpasses that of the individual CuGaS2 and NH2-MIL-125(Ti) components.

The invention includes both the nanocomposite structure and the synthesis method, enabling controlled deposition of CuGaS2 nanoplates on MOF particles and obtaining a stable, reusable photocatalytic material.

Application:

  • Hydrogen photogeneration for renewable energy production,
  • CO2 photoconversion into value added chemical products,
  • Advanced photocatalytic environmental remediation.
