Fluorescent isothiocyanate derivatives with anticancer activity

The invention concerns fluorescently labelled sulforaphane derivatives featuring an extended carbon chain    with an isothiocyanate group. These compounds combine anticancer activity with the ability to track intracellular distribution through an integrated fluorophore.

The derivatives show potent and selective activity against prostate and breast cancer cells while remaining non-toxic to healthy cells. Studies confirmed rapid uptake, mitochondrial accumulation and long intracellular retention.

The fluorophore enables real-time imaging of compound localisation, accumulation dynamics and clearance. The isothiocyanate group is essential for biological activity, its removal eliminates cytotoxicity.

Application:

  • Design of selective isothiocyanate-based anticancer molecules,
  • Fluorescent tracking of intracellular distribution and metabolism,
  • Studies on mechanisms of targeted therapies and mitochondrial inhibitors.
