The invention concerns a novel barium salt of nimesulide in the form of stable crystals obtained through the reaction of nimesulide with barium hydroxide followed by controlled crystallization from an ethanol–water mixture. The resulting compound forms a multicomponent structure in which nimesulide exists as an anion coordinated with a barium cation and two water molecules.
The new crystalline form may exhibit modified physicochemical properties, including altered solubility, stability or melting point, which can influence bioavailability and therapeutic performance. The barium salt of nimesulide may serve as a basis for developing pharmaceutical formulations with improved therapeutic profiles.
The invention covers both the compound itself and its synthesis method, enabling the reproducible production of high-purity crystals with controlled morphology and consistent crystal structure.
Application:
- Development of new forms of anti-inflammatory drugs based on nimesulide,
- Design of formulations with modified solubility and release profiles,
- Potential use as a functional component or contrast agent.
